China said it has not yet received any asylum applications from former President Rodrigo Duterte and his family, according to a foreign ministry spokesperson on Monday.
According to Guo Jiakun, spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry, Duterte's visit to Hong Kong was for his personal vacation.
Duterte was arrested on March 11 at the Manila airport after arriving from Hong Kong. The arrest was in accordance with the request of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate his war on drugs during his presidency.
