Two men who impersonated Bureau of Customs (BOC) personnel were arrested after they fooled a businessman into participating in a contract bidding.
According to the investigation, the suspects convinced the victim that there was a legitimate transaction with the agency and demanded a large sum of money as part of the agreement. They stole more than P4 million before they were finally caught by authorities.
Investigations are ongoing to determine if there are other victims of the suspects. The BOC reminds the public to be wary of this modus operandi and to immediately report any suspicious transactions to authorities.
