
Six foreign hikers went missing after hiking in Valencia, Negros Oriental this week, the local government said Friday. They are asking for the public's help in locating the missing individuals.
The missing are Alexander Radvanyi (British), Torsten Martin Groschupp (German), Alwin Fink (German), a man identified as “Wolfgang” (German), Terry (Canadian), and Anton Chernov (Russian).
They went hiking on a popular twin lakes trail in Negros Oriental on Wednesday morning and never returned to their rented house. Other guests noticed they had not returned and immediately reported them missing the next day, according to Police Lt. Stephen Polinar.
Polinar also said that the families of the missing hikers are asking for help from authorities so that they can be found and returned safely.
Search and rescue operations by the Local Risk Reduction and Management Offices in Valencia and Sibulan, along with other groups, are continuing.
ONE-MO Wilderness First Responders Incorporated issued a statement, saying they appreciate those with search and rescue skills to assist in the search.
