
A big fire broke out in a residential area in Daang Tubo, Barangay UP Campus, Quezon City on Monday, March 3.

Thick and dark smoke was seen from the area as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) raised the third alarm around 10:07 a.m., almost an hour after the fire started.

In the third alarm, there should be 12 fire trucks that respond. The first alarm was raised at 9:39 a.m., followed by the second alarm at 9:46 a.m.

According to barangay officials, it is estimated that around 40 houses made of light materials were consumed, affecting almost 60 families.

Firefighters and volunteers worked continuously to extinguish the fire. The fire was declared "under control" at 11:21 a.m., and was finally extinguished around 3 p.m.

This is the fourth fire in Barangay UP Campus in two months. The last incident was on February 25, and was preceded by two fires on January 26 and 27.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, the number of affected families, possible injuries or fatalities, and the extent of the damage.
