
Fans have been waiting a long time for Rihanna to return to music, and today, she gave an update about her upcoming album, called R9.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar US, he explained why his new album took so long. "I just now really understood what I want to do for this new project of mine," he said.
Regarding the album's sound, he clarified that it has no particular genre. Many fans thought it was reggae-inspired, but according to Rihanna, it was not compatible with her personal growth. "I have to show them that the wait is worth it," he added. "I can't just release something after eight years."
Although he has been in the studio for a long time, he admits that he did not immediately find the right direction for the album. “I know it's not going to be what others expected. It's not mass media or radio. But this is where my artistry belongs."
Rihanna's last album, Anti, came out in 2016 and the songs hit 400;">Work, Needed Me, and Love On The Brain. Despite his long break from music, he is busy with his businesses such as Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, and Savage x Fenty.
In 2022, he released a new song Lift Me Up for the soundtrack of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as well as Born Again.
