The Blood Bikes charity brings free medical supplies and blood to support the NHS in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire.
On February 19, the group reported on Facebook the loss of their BMW R1250RT, named 'Margo McCaffery.' The post has reached 1.3 million views and over 13,000 shares.
The next day, they announced that the motorcycle had been found thanks to the public's help.
"Ayon sa impormasyon, kilala na ang grupo na kumuha nito," sabi ni Guy Lipscomb, operations manager ng charity, sa MCN.
“We've got it back, and it looks like they can't sell it. Maybe, that's the best view here.”
The main motor cables were broken to stop the alarm, the rear subframe was broken from trying to remove the panniers, and the steering lock was also broken. The damage is extensive and could take a long time to repair—or possibly be declared a total loss.
"Because the motorcycle is so well known, we've gotten a lot of calls about its whereabouts when it's been moved around."
The rider himself, enraged by the theft, searched the area and tracked down the motorcycle.
"While he was putting it in a warehouse that was offered as a safe place, those who took it suddenly came to take it back. Fortunately, there were people there so they did not continue."
This is the second time someone has attempted to steal a Blood Bikes motorcycle. Previously, one of their motorbikes had a broken steering lock, causing almost £1,400 worth of damage.
On February 25, the BMW will undergo a thorough examination to determine the total damage.
