Condition of the Pope
On Saturday morning, Pope Francis<span reportedly had severe breathing problems style="font-weight: 400;">, which felt like an asthma attack, so he had to use high-flow oxygen.
In addition, his blood tests showed thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) with accompanying anemia, which is why he had to undergo a blood transfusion.
According to Vatican,

"Although Pope Francis is awake and alert, he is more uncomfortable today than yesterday. His condition remains uncertain.”
Health of Pope Francis
Pope Francis, who was born as Jorge Mario Bergoglio, became Pope in 2013. In the past two years, he has also had several health issues.
He was more susceptible to lung disease because when he was young, he had pleurisy—a condition in which the lining between the lungs and chest—so part of one of his lungs was removed.
