TikTok is back on Apple and Google's US app stores after President Donald Trump delayed the ban until April 5 and assured the companies that they would not be fined for distributing or maintaining the Chinese app.
The popular short video app used by 170 million American users began restoring its service in January, weeks after it lost access, as Trump made good on his promise to restore the app before his inauguration.
TikTok did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.
Trump's executive order last month delayed the TikTok ban for 75 days, allowing the ByteDance-owned app to temporarily continue operations in the US.
According to the order, companies running mobile application stores or digital marketplaces will not face any penalty for keeping the TikTok app operational.
TikTok ranks second as the most downloaded app in the US, with over 52 million downloads in 2024, according to market intelligence firm Sensor Tower.
An estimated 52% of TikTok's total downloads came from the Apple App Store, while 48% came from Google Play in the US last year, according to Sensor Tower.
