Sandara Park, Pays Tribute to the Late Barbie Hsu

K-pop star Sandara Park, better known as Dara, has extended her condolences to the bereaved family of Taiwanese actress and Meteor Garden star Barbie Hsu.

Barbie died of influenza-induced pneumonia on February 2, 2025. She was 48 years old.

On X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, February 5, Sandara commented on a video posted by a netizen. In the video, the 2NE1 member can be seen singing "Ni Yao De Ai," the popular theme song of Meteor Garden, at a New Year's Eve party in Taiwan in December 2024.

In the comments section of the said post, Sandara remembered and thanked Barbie for being a big influence on her when she was just starting out in showbiz.

Sandara's message:
"Rest in peace Barbie Hsu.
"I got influenced by you since I started my career.
"We will always remember you."

Sandara Park's career

Sandara first became known in the Philippines after she was runner-up in ABS-CBN's artist search Star Circle Quest in 2004. She was also called then as "National Krung-Krung."

He left the Philippines in 2007 and returned to South Korea to train with YG Entertainment as a K-pop star.

In 2009, Sandara debuted as a member of the all-female K-pop group 2NE1, along with CL, Park Bom, and Minzy.

Some of their hit songs are "Fire," "I Am The Best," "Ugly," and "Lonely."
