The release of the movie The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma will not continue in theaters this coming February 5, 2025.
The film is a controversial work by director Darryl Yap that deals with the life of the late bold star Pepsi Paloma.
Yap confirmed the news in his Facebook post on Monday, February 3, 2025.
According to Yap: "I would like to convey to all the followers that we are disappointed in not completing the documents requested by the MTRCB, so the release of our movie on February 5 will not go ahead."
Sinabi ng direktor na posibleng maunang ipalabas ang pelikula sa ibang bansa o sa mga streaming platforms.
"We are also considering whether to release it in other countries first or postpone the release in theaters and focus on streaming platforms," added Yap.
“The public will be informed immediately of the next steps. Thank you very much," he added in his statement.
According to Yap, the necessary documents from the MTRCB were not completed so it was difficult for them to learn the correct date for the release of the film in the months of February and March.

Pending Complaints Against Darryl Yap
MTRCB is asking for documents such as Certificate of No Pending Criminal, Civil, or Administrative Cases from the Regional Trial Court of Muntinlupa City, Department of Justice, and Office of the City Prosecutor of Muntinlupa City before approving the release of the film. This follows the controversies and complaints involving Yap's movie.
On January 9, 2025, Vic Sotto filed nineteen cases of cyber libel against Yap at the Office of the City Prosecutor of Muntinlupa City. This follows the teaser of the movie that mentioned the name of Sotto, who is a veteran comedian and host of Eat Bulaga!
Sotto is demanding PHP30 million as damages for Yap's alleged "malicious and defamatory statements".
