Japanese electronics company Casio has launched the first digital wristwatch, the CRW-001.
The device was inspired from the yubiwa or finger ring pipe designed by Casio's predecessor company, Kashio Seisakujo, in 1946.
The yubiwa pipe became popular after World War II, where people wanted to keep their hands clean while working and smoking until the cigarette was short. The profits from the pipe became the capital Casio used to develop their iconic calculators.
The CRW-001 has the same finger ring pipe style, where the standard watch module is shortened by about ten times but uses optimized high-density mounting.
It has a size of 20 millimeter inner diameter and 62.8 millimeter circumference, and has spacers to be used with inner diameters of 19 and 18 millimeters.
The ring and its case are molded in one piece using fine metal powder injected into the molds. A glass adhesive technique reinforces the ring watch's water-resistance.
The CRW-001 has a 6-digit digital LCD display that shows dual times (up to the second), a calendar, and a stopwatch. It also lights up on time and at preset times.
Ang CRW-001 ay available na ngayon sa Pilipinas simula Enero 25 para sa halagang P9,660.
