More than 160,000 passengers are expected to benefit from the opening of the Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange (TCITX) in 2028, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
The DOTr led the ground-breaking ceremony of TCITX yesterday after a seven-year delay caused by the pandemic and right-of-way issues.
Granted to Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) project, which is expected to be completed by 2027 and be fully operational by 2028.
The P5.2 billion terminal is expected to accommodate 160,000 motorists and 5,200 vehicles daily.
TCITX will feature a walkway that will connect passengers to the North-South Commuter Railway and Metro Manila Subway.
"This project will be important in easing traffic flow and providing a more convenient ride to the public," according to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista.
The transport hub will be built on the former site of Food Terminal Inc., a state-owned corporation that was sold to ALI in 2012.
"TCITX will be the gateway from the south of Metro Manila, where 5,200 vehicles will arrive including provincial buses from Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon, as well as city buses and public utility vehicles that will transport passengers throughout Metro Manila,” said ALI President and CEO Anna Maria Margarita Dy.
A right-of-way usage agreement was also signed yesterday for the construction of the 32.7-kilometer Southeast Metro Manila Expressway, from Parañaque to Batasan Complex in Quezon City. The signatories are the DOTr, Department of National Defense, Veterans Foundation of the Philippines, Toll Regulatory Board, and San Miguel Corp.
