Grand Seiko introduces the SLGH027, a limited edition watch with a silvery-blue textured dial. It is called “Mountainscape,” and its design is derived from the mountains of Mount Iwate, a pattern first introduced in 2006 and closely related to Grand Seiko's mechanical watchmaking. The steep mountains of Mount Iwate and the flow of lava from an active volcano are reflected in the mesmerizing light-blue color of the dial, depicting the cleanliness of the surrounding air and water.
As a new part of the Evolution 9 Collection, the watch has the signature case of the series, with multi-faceted indexes and hands. The case and bracelet are made of Ever-Brilliant Steel, a stainless-steel alloy with superior corrosion resistance compared to standard materials in the watch industry.
The alloy reinforces the hairline-finished parts of the watch, giving it a brighter shine to match the silver-blue dial, thus achieving an attractive and balanced finish.
The 9SA5 Hi-Beat automatic movement powers the watch, with an 80-hour power reserve thanks to the efficient Dual Impulse Escapement and twin barrels. The movement is housed in an open sapphire caseback, inspired by the waves of the nearby Shizukuishi River.
The SLGH027 “Mountainscape” has a retail price of $10,500 USD. It will be released in May and will have a limited production run of 1,200 units that will be distributed by Grand Seiko and select retailers worldwide.
