New Balance expects to release the new New Balance 2000 by the end of the year. Inspired by the running shoes of the early 2000s, the improved model combines retro-futuristic style with a contemporary streetwear aesthetic.
The first look of the silhouette was shared on Instagram by Gustavo Soares, a stylist from Sao Paolo. Introduced for the first time, the shoe features a no-sew streamlined upper silhouette with a breathable mesh base and synthetic overlays for a sleek look. The shoe's bold “N” branding is enhanced by wavy paneling, and the New Balance 2000 appears in a soft baby blue colorway with white accents.
The most notable feature is the full-length ABZORB cushioning system that resembles Nike Shox technology. The chunky sole gives off a retro-futuristic look thanks to the five-pod feature that reveals the mid-foot plate.
