Samsung is set for a busy year and as expected, they chose January for one of their biggest announcements, the launch of their new Galaxy S25 series of flagship smartphones at the Unpacked event in San Jose, California today.
Introducing their latest Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 touted as AI-powered Android devices that bring a "fundamental shift in how you interact with the world." Like most tech brands today, Samsung has a big focus on AI, and the new Galaxy S25 series showcases the latest features adopted from last year's models, many of which are powered by Galaxy AI technology.
At the heart of these new phones is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, a customized version of the most powerful chipset for Android, specially developed for the Galaxy through the long-term partnership of Samsung and chipmaker Qualcomm . This hardware is optimized to work seamlessly with Samsung's AI software, which is why the Galaxy S25 series has "greater on-device processing power." And in the photo and video aspects, the Snapdragon chipset's NPU powers Samsung's ProVisual Engine.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra ay may 6.9-inch QHD+ display at 120Hz refresh rate.
The Galaxy S25+ at Galaxy S25 has four cameras, including a 10MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP wide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP front camera. The Galaxy S25+ has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display while the Galaxy S25 has a slightly smaller 6.2-inch FHD+ screen. They both have 12GB RAM and a maximum of 512GB internal storage, but the Galaxy S25 can be configured with lower storage sizes like 128GB and 256GB.
Samsung is also introducing multimodal AI agents in these three new phones, which is why the S25 series will be Samsung's strongest product when it comes to AI. Multimodal AI agents can process different types of data, unlike AIs that analyze only one type of data.
Another interesting thing is that Samsung doesn't seem to want to include their new devices in a simple smartphone box. Instead, they used words as if they were more than just a phone – like a smart friend to help out on a daily basis. In their press release, the brand said the Galaxy S25 series "sets the AI phone standard as a true AI companion," and they described the new three models as having "the most natural and context-aware mobile experiences ever." created."
The South Korean brand's Galaxy smartphones are considered the gold standard when it comes to Android devices, and on paper, these new models appear to have a solid case. These include Android 15 and Samsung promises "seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates."
Pre-orders for the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series begin today at select retailers and will be available in more locations on February 7.
