Panerai introduces the PAM01628, a new Luminor Tre Giorni that fuses the brand's colorful past with cutting-edge technology.
It comes in a durable patina steel case, which was inspired by the wristwatches worn by Italian commandos during their underwater missions. A larger diameter was then important for easier reading, which this new timepiece with a 47mm case size faithfully demonstrates.
Its dial, with a grey-grained and black gradient sandwich design, has luminous beige hands and hour markers, which ensure maximum legibility even in low light. This dial design, developed by Panerai in the late 1930s, has evolved into its current form with two superimposed plates, the lower plate filled with Super-LumiNova™.
According to Jean-Marc Pontroué, CEO of Panerai, "At Panerai, our mission is to pay homage to our rich heritage while continuously moving forward with cutting-edge innovation. The Luminor Tre Giorni was created to pay homage to the historical elements of our first watches, enjoying their unique aesthetics and practical functionality. This timepiece symbolizes our continued dedication to the fusion of tradition and cutting-edge watchmaking."
At the heart of the PAM01628 is the P.3000, a manually wound movement with a three-day power reserve — visible through the open caseback. The finish of the P.3000 caliber is clean and utilitarian, reflecting the practical needs of the military divers who first used these reliable instruments. This new timepiece will be available at Panerai boutiques.
