Due to the zero subsidy allocated by Congress for PhilHealth in 2025 due to alleged mismanagement, the labor coalition NAGKAISA called for the removal of PhilHealth's board members. According to the group, workers should not be punished for the agency's shortcomings. They also asked President Marcos to immediately implement PhilHealth reform to ensure quality and affordable health services for all Filipinos.
According to NAGKAISA chair Sonny Matula, the lack of subsidy will cause a greater burden on workers, especially in hospital expenses. Although PhilHealth has enough funds, Matula said it is not being used properly to improve members' benefits. Also supported by Rep. Raul Bongalon called for an investigation into PhilHealth's P700 billion reserve fund to ensure that it is not abused.
Meanwhile, criticized Rep. Rufus Rodriguez plans PhilHealth's P138 million budget for the 2025 anniversary celebration. He proposed reducing it significantly and allocating the funds to medical services, such as dialysis treatment. Sen. also called for JV Ejercito of an oversight hearing to review the implementation of the Universal Healthcare Law and ensure that Filipinos feel the benefits they should receive.
