Renault has officially confirmed the Renault 5 Turbo 3E as a production model, shown in an unusual way in the finale of the Anatomy of a Comeback documentary series on Prime Video. The series, which aired on December 13, deals with Renault's innovative “Renaulution” and concludes with a thrilling Easter egg: a sneak peek of the all-electric Renault 5 Turbo 3E.
The modern reinterpretation of the iconic Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 of the 1980s combines retro styling with modern technology. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E, with its motorsport-inspired livery, lightweight carbon structure and rear-wheel drive layout, refers to its rally heritage. It is powered by two electric motors located in the rear wheels, providing almost 500 hp and a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 3.5 seconds.
The retro-futuristic design of the vehicle has modern details such as a charging port integrated into the rear air intake, while retaining stylistic allusions to earlier Turbo models. Dubbed a "pocket rocket," the Renault 5 Turbo 3E aims to provide an exhilarating driving experience and rapid acceleration.
Importantly, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E is set to launch alongside exclusive activations in 2025, but details about price and availability have yet to be revealed at the time of writing.
