Casio's new watch wants to book a trip to the spa. Called the Casio CPP-002, this techy time-teller has a heavy-duty design that can withstand the hot and humid environment of a sauna, where most traditional watches cannot withstand the extreme heat. The sauna-approved watch will launch via crowdfunding on Japan's Makuake platform, in a three-month campaign starting on December 2.
The timepiece will come in three models: the CPP-002-OR, with black, white, and orange colors, the CPP-002-BK, with an all-black finish, and the CPP-002-BU, with a combination black and light blue collaboration with the sauna platform Sauna Ikitai.
Each model measures 35.44 mm in diameter with an analog-style face and a 12-minute counter specifically for sauna use. The device is attached to an expandable band, similar to those used on locker keys in gyms. It weighs 24.5 grams and has a water resistance rating of 5 ATM (or 50 meters) and has a heat-resistant battery that lasts about five years. Moreover, the body of the watch is made of resin with low moisture permeability to prevent damage from the hot and humid atmosphere of the sauna.
There's no specific date yet when Casio's new sauna watch will launch, or how much the watch will cost; but will just have to wait on Hypebeast for more details. In the meantime, check out images of the watch in the gallery above.
