According to Senator Ronald dela Rosa, he sees no sedition in the statement made by former President Rodrigo Duterte, in which he called on the military to act in order to fix the "broken governance" of President Marcos' administration.
In an interview at the Senate this Wednesday, Dela Rosa said that Duterte did not directly call for a coup against the government.
"For me, this is not sedition. He did not mention a coup or any attack against Malacañang," said Dela Rosa, who was the first chief of the PNP during the Duterte administration.
"I agree with him when he outlined the options for the military regarding their duty to defend the Constitution," he said. "It is the military's duty to strengthen the country, not to destabilize it. They are the last line of defense for the people."
Meanwhile, Senator Bong Go denied the accusations made during the House of Representatives' quad committee investigation that he is friends with those involved in the Pharmally scam and drug suspects Allan Lim or Lin Weixiong.
In a press briefing yesterday, Go criticized the House for implicating him in the drug matrix.
"I am not close to any drug lord. Former President Rodrigo Duterte and I are both angry at drugs and drug lords," Go said. "I am not close to Allan Lim, and I have no connection to illegal drugs."
Go also denied the allegations that Duterte was connected to an illegal drug syndicate through former presidential economic adviser Michael Yang.
"Even Duterte said he would kill the drug lords," Go added.
He criticized the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the House for their "irresponsible, repetitive, and malicious attempts to make accusations through association."
"It's really election time, when others destroy the reputation of their fellow to improve their own image," Go added, as he runs for senator again.
