Georgia Francesca Carmina Sanchez Tan, a US-based Filipina swimmer from Bacolod City, made history by winning a gold medal at the 18th Singapore Open Artistic Swimming Championships held at the Singapore Aquatic Center. Tan achieved a total score of 96.6370 points in the Solo Free Group C Open Seniors class, surpassing Sri Lanka's Shashani Fernando, who scored 95.3589 points.
Despite her victory, Tan also earned a silver medal in the Solo Tech Group C (15-19 Juniors) with a score of 187.4137 points, and a bronze in the Solo Tech Group D (Open Seniors) with 130.9950 points. These achievements further showcase her impressive performance at the 18th Singapore Open Artistic Swimming Championships.
Guided by her coach, Giella Garcia Sanchez, and trained at Meraquas in Irvine, California, Tan expressed her gratitude to Philippine Aquatics, Inc. for their support. She is set to compete again at the SEA Age Group Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 6-8, alongside fellow swimmers Antonia Lucia Rafaelle and Zoe Lim.
Development of the Philippine Aquatics Teams
In addition to artistic swimming, PAI Secretary General and Batangas 1st District Congressman Eric Buhain announced the list of junior athletes who will compete in regular swimming, diving, and water polo. Their training is part of PAI’s program aimed at nurturing a new generation of world-class athletes.
Buhain's statement: "This team is composed of athletes who show serious dedication. Now, it is up to them to surpass their current abilities, while we continue to closely monitor their progress," said Buhain.
The program is a step towards developing the next generation of exceptional athletes who are ready to compete on the global stage.
