The Japanese company BANDAI SPIRITS, under their HOBBY division, will release a new product from the anime movie Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM — the 'HG 1/144 Black Knight Gryphus Squadron,' set to be released on October 26, 2024. Before the launch, the company also released new information, including the box design and images of the actual product sample.
The NOG-M2D1/E Black Knight Gryphus Squadron is a new version of the Black Knight series, designed using P.L.A.N.T. technology from Fusion Fund Nation. This mobile suit is built to enhance the capabilities of the Black Knight machines. The mech is led by the Prime Minister of Fund Nation, Orpheus Lam Tal, and his secretary, Ingrid Tradel. It surpasses other Black Knight machines, as it is equipped with FT Armor capable of defending against beam attacks, along with 8 Dragon Knight system wings, each with 8 beam cannons, totaling 64 beam cannons. Furthermore, the mech has the ability to control a massive AMO-01 Ziggurat, functioning like a small battleship.
The 'HG 1/144 Black Knight Gryphus Squadron' uses Bandai's most advanced molding technology, featuring separate parts to accurately depict the body’s colors. The golden engravings on the armor are created using 'realistic metallic gloss parts' to showcase the details. The model incorporates the SEED Moveable System, allowing for flexible joints such as the double-joint under the arms and movable hip joints for more dynamic poses, enabling you to replicate iconic battle poses from the Gundam SEED series.
The armaments of the mech include a beam rifle, two anti-ship knives, and a chest armor that can open to reveal hidden beam cannons. The Dragon Knight system at the back of the mech can be displayed with interchangeable parts to show the wings in an open position, and comes with PET film featuring printed designs to illustrate the 'wings of light' effect. The 8 Dragon Knight system beam cannons are equipped with effect parts to showcase multi-directional beam attacks along the sides of the armor.
