Nissan is set to release the uniquely equipped Frontier TARMAC this year at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Created in collaboration with Nissan Motorsports, Forsberg Racing, and Nissan Design America, the TARMAC revamps the Nissan Frontier PRO-X into a low-slung powerhouse built for the track.
The TARMAC concept, conceived by Nissan Motorsports veterans Kevin Lutz and Paul Boyer, pays tribute to the muscle truck era of the early 2000s. Chris Forsberg, a renowned figure in racing, leads the project, bringing his expertise and a touch of nostalgia. He says, "I haven’t built a lowered truck since 2003. This is a cool throwback to a performance style that nearly disappeared."
Powered by a supercharged 3.8L V6, the TARMAC delivers 440 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a custom NISMO cold air intake and performance exhaust. Its sleek, carbon-fiber-clad body sits on a NISMO street suspension, featuring a fully adjustable coil-over system in the front and a modified rear flip kit for a "slammed" look. The stopping power is ensured by NISMO brakes with two-piece slotted rotors and a unique dual-caliper rear setup, allowing for drift-style braking.
Wrapped in a striking Afterburn Orange, the TARMAC boasts a 4-inch wider stance, 20-inch carbon fiber wheels, and ultra-wide Yokohama Advan tires. Inside, a carbon fiber steering wheel, Recaro seats, and a custom handbrake complete its track-focused look. Attendees at the 2024 SEMA Show will have the chance to see the race truck in person starting November 5.
