McIntosh has unveiled their latest and most innovative audio device, the PS1K subwoofer. This high-end device, which the brand says delivers “unparalleled bass precision and power,” was created to power state-of-the-art home audio systems and theaters.
The PS1K is equipped with two 13-inch McIntosh drivers, which use the brand's Low Distortion High Performance (LD/HP) Magnetic Circuit Design, which can maximize power handling while minimizing distortion. Both drivers run off dual 500-watt Class D amplifiers, generating a whopping 1000 watts of power when working together.
The subwoofer, with its high-gloss black facade, carbon trim, and aluminum base, also uses advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for clarity and stability. The system uses complex carbon fiber cones to resist flex.
The device has flexible inputs and outputs, so it can easily be connected to any existing stereo system or home theater. The sound can be adjusted to suit the needs of the users using adjustable filters, parametric EQ, and balanced and unbalanced connections. Moreover, the brand's Power Guard and Sentry Monitors protect the device from short circuits.
The McIntosh PS1K subwoofer will be available at the end of this month at the brand's retailers for $35,000 USD. Check out the design in the gallery above.
