Coldplay released their tenth studio album titled Moon Music last weekend.
This much-anticipated album comes after the band announced that their last record would likely be released in 2025. In an interview with BBC Radio 2's Jo Whiley in 2021, Chris Martin said, “Our last proper record will be released in 2025 and after that, I think we'll just keep touring. Maybe we'll do some collaborations but Coldplay's catalog, that's it." He further emphasized this in an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe this past week, saying that having 12 albums as a limit is important. “I'll tell you why. It is very important that we have limits. There are only 12 and a half Beatles albums. So is Bob Marley, so are all our heroes. And having a limit means that the quality is very high now, and for a song to get in, it's almost impossible to happen, which is great. So where we can rest, we try to improve.”
Since its release, the album has received many positive reviews, including from Rolling Stone, who said "It's as intergalactically ambitious as you'd expect," calling it "musically spacious and emotionally boundless." The NME also gave it a four-star review, calling it "the power of music to weather life's storms." Listen to the new album below.
