Watch collaborations don't come around often, but for Seiko, this is a rare opportunity. As part of Seiko's Presage Craftsmanship Series, they teamed up with Porter Classic for a limited edition that pays tribute to co-founder Katsuyuki Yoshida's love of pocket watches, as well as the Laurel — the first ever wristwatch in Japan.
Inspired by the Laurel model created by Seiko in 1913, the new reference has a slim 35mm classic round case. Since early 20th century timepieces were often made into pocket watches, the SPB449J1 has wire lugs in homage to vintage models.
To maintain its retro flair, the dial has sleek black enamel, accompanied by silvery Breguet-style numerals, spade-shaped hands, and a 24-hour subdial at 6 o'clock. This elegant timepiece is powered by the in-house 6R5H caliber, which offers a three-day power reserve. As a sign of this collaborative piece, the caseback is inscribed with the silhouette of Katsuyuki Yoshida.
The wristwatch comes complete with a cordovan leather pull-through strap in black, with an additional brown option. Limited to just 500 units, the Seiko Presage x Porter Classic SPB449J1 Limited Edition is now available for pre-order through the brand's webstore. Its price is £2,070 GBP (PHP 153,310), and shipping will start in November.
