Triumph Motorcycles announced a major upgrade to their most classic and sportiest model, the Speed Twin 1200, and launched the new Speed Twin 1200 RS. This model emphasizes a dynamic driving experience, with sharper response and more precise control.
Texture gifted students, high-quality motorcycle design
The exterior of this model has been revamped, combining bright contemporary sporty style and modern classic design genes, reflecting Triumph's unparalleled premium quality. The new fuel tank is more sculptural, with smoother lines and a new flip-top filler neck. The side cover design is simpler and blends in with the new minimalist throttle valve cover, with a hairline aluminum finish.
Some classic-style details have been subtly redesigned, including the black powder-coated engine casing. The elegant round headlights are now LED and have a new design for the daytime running lights. The one-piece bench has been redesigned to better fit the sporty style, and the front of the seat cushion is narrower; the RS seats have sporty suede and excellent stitching details. The new cast aluminum wheels really fit the body design and have seven pairs of thin spokes that create a sporty fan-shaped angle.
But… I have a problem with looks. The double-ring pointer instrument that had a strong sense of quality in the past has been removed and replaced by a unit meter with a TFT display screen. The overall plastic texture is unmatched by previous versions. The only advantage might be that it has a USB-C charging jack on the side...
The instrument was replaced with a single loop design.
For the Speed Twin 1200, there are two color designs that further emphasize the modern feel. The distinctive “1200” tank pattern separates the Crystal White or Fiesta Red upper half from the Sapphire Black lower half, creating a more streamlined appearance. There is also a more classic-style aluminum silver option with discreet “1200” numbering and double black stripes.
Freer riding position
The handlebars of the new Speed Twin 1200 are higher and moved forward compared to the previous model, giving a roomier riding feel. The Speed Twin 1200 RS offers a more focused riding position. The back of the frame is raised, the seat height is slightly increased (RS: 810mm/standard version: 805mm), the handlebar position is moved forward, and the footrest is slightly moved back.
RS version upgraded na mayroong European adjustable front shock absorbers
In terms of suspension and braking, the Speed Twin 1200 has a 43mm Marzocchi front fork and dual Marzocchi rear suspension; the RS version has been upgraded to a front suspension system with preload and rebound adjustable Marzocchi front forks, and the rear suspension is an Öhlins pre-suspension system. It is equipped with compression and rebound adjustable suspension, and the braking system has dual Brembo Stylema calipers. The standard version uses Triumph Logo four-piston radial calipers.
The horsepower of all vehicles has been increased by 5PS, and the thugs in suits have been upgraded!
Triumph's impressive Bonneville 1200 twin-cylinder engine provides an additional 5PS of peak power, reaching 105PS at 7750rpm, and offers faster acceleration near the rev limit. The 270-degree ignition sequence and low-inertia crankshaft provide instant response and maintain abundant torque output throughout the rev range, with a peak of 112 Nm @ 4,250 rpm, and the vehicle weighs 216 kg.
I've been really impressed with the Speed Twin's powerful torque when I've done test drives in the past. I believe that after this comprehensive upgrade, the rebel vibe from the thugs in suits will be felt even more!
