This coming November, Phillips along with Bacs & Russo will host TOKI: Watch Auction — a curated sale featuring remarkable timepieces from independent watchmakers and Japanese brands.
From unique dials to precious materials and complex mechanisms, this lineup of watches for sale is offered by experts and experienced collectors from Japan. Among them are well-known names in Japanese horology, such as Hajime Asaoka's Kurono Tokyo, Takano, Naoya Hida & co., Masahiro Kikuno, and Otsuka Lotec.
A featured piece from the Japanese watchmaker lineup is the unique pink gold Grand Niji “虹” wristwatch specially made by Kurono Tokyo for this thematic auction. Estimated to be between $9,000 (PHP 503,550) – $18,000 (PHP 1,007,100) USD, it features an artisanally crafted, iridescent Urushi lacquered dial, where the time is displayed in Japanese zodiac time.
Some other notable features are the famous “Paul Newman Panda” Rolex Daytona, a Patek Philippe ref. 5016 in platinum with a gray dial, and an extremely rare example of Roger Smith's Series 2 Edition 3 timepiece, being sold for the first time.
The TOKI: Watch Auction will be held at Phillips' Asia headquarters in Hong Kong on November 22, 2024. Prior to the sale, selected highlights will be shown on a traveling tour in Tokyo, Singapore, Taipei, and Geneva. Visit the auction house website for more details.
