After the opening of Jahan Loh's solo show POSTCARDS FROM SPACE, the multidisciplinary artist from Singapore has announced his next creative venture. This time, Loh once again collaborated with G-SHOCK to produce a limited-edition DW-5600 watch.
From the band, case, to the bezel, the DW-5600JAH24-4 is dressed in a bold red color. Although there have been many G-SHOCK models with this palette before, this particular hue is inspired by Loh's latest works that focus on the themes of AI, resilience, and the continuous flow of time.
A standout design detail of the piece is the distinct watch band with dragon and flame motifs in a camouflage pattern. The dragon is not only a symbol of Loh's Asian heritage but also a reference to his Chinese zodiac sign.
Through the flame-like patterns intertwined with the mythical creature, the artist shows his reflection on his journey back and forth between a futuristic vision and a connection to the past. As final touches, Loh's spaceman avatar can be seen on the band loop and is also engraved on the caseback of the watch.
On October 3, the watch will be available for purchase at an exclusive pop-up at the G-SHOCK ION store. After that, it will be available to CASIO_ID members only at G-SHOCK's physical and online stores in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and China. The regular edition is priced at $229 SGD (PHP 9,980), while the special Spaceman-themed edition costs $269 SGD (PHP 11,730).
