Marshall has released the latest product in their personal audio lineup, a set of wireless headphones with an impressive 70-hour battery life. It was launched in conjunction with a campaign featuring Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong.
The new Monitor III A.N.C. headphones are based on the British brand's over 60 years of experience in audio, and are now their flagship product in personal audio. As its name suggests, this new product has active noise-cancelling (ANC). While this is common in today's headphones, what makes the Monitor III A.N.C. is the claimed 70 hours of battery life with ANC on. And if you think 70 hours isn't enough, the brand claims it can go for over 100 hours with ANC off – let's call it a compromise. Such long battery life seems to be becoming a trend with new headphone releases, such as the P100 from Cambridge Audio or Dyson's OnTrac, both of which offer similar battery life – but, it must be said that both fall short of the 70- hour claim of Marshall, they only reach 60 and 50 hours respectively.
Apart from ANC, the headphones have an upgraded transparency mode to filter sounds and keep you aware of your surroundings. Marshall's new headphones also include their 'Adaptive Loudness' technology that automatically adjusts lows, mids, and highs to ensure that it is at the "optimal" level regardless of volume. The headphones are built with 32mm drivers with a frequency response of 20 Hz – 20 kHz, and if you choose to use them in wired mode, they have 35 ohms impedance, meaning they're perfect for low-power devices like smartphones. (no additional amplifier needed). Marshall also introduced a new spatial audio feature they call 'Soundstage', which allows users to experience their music in an immersive way.
In terms of portability, the Monitor III A.N.C. is foldable and weighs 250 g (8.8 oz) so it's perfect for travel. It also has real and tactile buttons, one of which is multi-directional and controls various settings such as volume and track selection, while the other – the “M” button – is fully user-customizable. Like most modern devices, the headphones charge via USB-C and take about two and a half hours to fully charge.
Marshall's Monitor III A.N.C. is available now via the Marshall website at a price of £299 GBP / $349 USD / €349 EUR.
