In an executive session with the Senate Committee on Women, former Bamban mayor Alice Guo revealed the identity of an "important personality" connected to the operation of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogos) in the country, according to Senator Risa Hontiveros.
Hontiveros, who chairs the committee, shared this information in a statement on Wednesday. According to him, although he is not completely satisfied with Guo's testimony, it confirms the involvement of an important person. "This supports the theory that the committee put out a month ago," Hontiveros added, but he did not provide further details about the person identified.
The Senate continued its closed-door session on Tuesday after Guo promised to expose the "most guilty" of crimes involving Pogo operations in the Philippines.
Hontiveros also emphasized the need to give a fair platform to all the people involved in the ongoing investigation. He issued this statement after photographs were circulated on Tuesday that were shown at the hearing, in which former police chief Benjamin Acorda and several officers were with individuals connected to the Pogo operations.
