The "Wings of Creation" themed guitar was unveiled as part of Hatsune Miku's 16th anniversary celebration, featuring a "feather of creativity" motif. ESP Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Naotake Shibuya) will hold a special exhibition to celebrate the creation of this guitar featured in Hatsune Miku's anniversary main visual created by Rella.
Wings Of Creation - ESP SPECIAL EXHIBITION
"Wings Of Creation," which shows the motif drawn by illustrator Rella in the Hatsune Miku Happy 16th Birthday -Dear Creators- visual in the form of a guitar, has been completed.
The equipment of the creators involved in Hatsune Miku has been recreated down to the smallest detail. These devices, finished in pure white, are a message to the creators of the future.
Planning
The Planning Begins
Planning for a commemorative model for the 16th anniversary of Hatsune Miku's birth began in early 2023. We wanted to create a guitar that would impress and leave a mark in history. If only we could present the image of Hatsune Miku's culture that continues to evolve through the interaction of various creators on one guitar... This is how we started.
Rough Design by Rella
With the help of Rella, who created the official illustrations, we arranged creative wings for the guitar. We will continue to refine the rough design.
Creation of Official Drawing
Based on Rella's rough design, the final design was completed while considering how to maintain the atmosphere of the official illustration while ensuring the guitar's functionality, as well as aspects such as its playability and balanced handling.
Body Mold Making
First, make a body mold in actual size. This mold is useful for special shapes like this.
Selection of Materials
Since the body is larger than a normal guitar, we decided to use a larger piece of alder. We used hard maple for the neck.
Rough Cut
This time, instead of carving a large piece of wood, we will do it by dividing it into several parts.
Woodworking Edition
Getting the Key Aspects
The main cavity processing for the guitar is done at an early stage.
Symbolic Visual
This part is a tie. The pin part is solid and three-dimensional.
More Refined Technology
Viewed from the side, it can be seen that the page is well reproduced.
The Base is important
This part will provide detailed elements such as brushes, palettes, and paints.
Art of Three-Dimensional
The part representing the wings at the end of the body is almost finished.
Best Even in Unseen Places
This is the sculpting of the guitar and violin near the cutaway on the side of the 6th string. From here, precision machining begins
Final Woodworking
Only Possible in 3D Guitar
The upper part of the body, near the neck pickup on the side of the 6th string, deals with the instrument. The guitar, sheet music, keyboard, and sheet music seem to float in the air.
Detailed Objects
At the end of the body are aligned the tools used in illustrations, such as brushes, paintbrushes, palettes, and scissors. The light wood, which is different from the body color, is hard maple, which is strong enough to make smaller accessories.
More Refined
Is it a book? The pages turn over smoothly. Small things like an airbrush, nippers, alligator clips, and paints were all used to make the models.
Unique Head
The headstock is also designed with fine details. The keys and brushes are carefully made individually and glued to the head.
The Symbolism is perfect
This is the part under the body that represents the tie. The tie pin is also beautifully recreated.
See the Full Image
I turned the neck over and took a picture of the whole guitar. It is quite large. After the final process, it's time for paint.
Paint to Installation
Careful Spraying
Finally, the paint will be applied. Today's theme is "pure white." It's like a canvas that hasn't been darkened yet.
Delicate Work
Even the smallest parts are carefully painted one by one.
Mountain of Accessories
I'm worried how many people will look at this picture and think it's part of a guitar. However, this is an amazing amount.
Built-in
Now that the paint is done and the hard parts are attached, we're getting closer to the guitar.
Sa Wakas
The headstock also has the ESP logo. The strings have been laid and the guitar is almost finished.
