Users can now comment on Instagram Stories. Previously, users could only message those who posted Stories, which were only visible in their DMs.
Now, comments are publicly viewable, just like comments on a regular Instagram post, although users still have the option to offer a DM option, depending on their preference.
Posters will have the option to turn comments on or off on their Stories. Any Story viewer can see comments, but only mutuals of the poster can write a comment, which like the Story, will also disappear after 24 hours.
This experience is very similar to Instagram's live streaming feature, where users can leave comments for everyone to see.
