While the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed concept car was first unveiled in late May, it was temporarily hidden from view. However, Mercedes-AMG has recently provided additional technical information about the vehicle as it enters the final stages of testing.
The limited-run two-seater with no roof and no windshield is currently undergoing thorough testing on diverse roads in northern Italy, before heading south to the high-speed test track in Nardò. The PureSpeed, set to be produced in an ultra-limited series of just 250 units, is a tribute to the golden era of racing.
With its unique design and performance-driven engineering, this roadster looks set to become a prized possession for select fans and collectors. Each PureSpeed unit is part of Mercedes-Benz's new Mythos series, dedicated to combining historic racing aesthetics with cutting-edge technology.
One of the notable features of the PureSpeed is its HALO system, inspired from the safety innovations of Formula 1. This curved bar, mounted directly on the car's body, replaces the usual A-pillar , which provides aerodynamic and structural protection in the event of an accident. In addition to this, the vehicle comes with two custom, aerodynamically optimized helmets, which provide added safety and style.
The testing program covers more than 1,800 miles, covering both public roads and dedicated test circuits. The development team, together with Pininfarina, is committed to ensuring that the vehicle's systems and components meet Mercedes-AMG's high quality standards. This phase includes extensive high-speed testing to improve the vehicle's dynamic handling.
At the time of writing, no details have been provided about the price and allocation processes.
