Para archer Agustina Bantiloc started for the six-member Philippine delegation as the Paris Paralympics opened.
As the first Filipino para archer to participate in the international competition for athletes with disabilities, Bantiloc will begin her campaign on Thursday, August 29, in the ranking round of the women's individual compound open.
Bantiloc, the oldest member of Team Philippines at age 56, will be in action a day after sharing the role of flag bearer with para swimmer Ernie Gawilan in the opening ceremony.
Gawilan and wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan lead the “Sensational Six” as they participate in the Paralympics for the third consecutive edition, with the rest of the team making their debut in the quadrennial games.
