Actor Sandro Muhlach has officially filed a rape complaint against two independent contractors of GMA, Jojo Nones and Richard Cruz. The complaint was submitted to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday, August 19, with Sandro and his father, former child actor Niño Muhlach, present.
In a report by GMA News, Niño Muhlach expressed his relief at reaching this stage of the process, noting the emotional toll it has taken on his son. "It’s a relief that we’ve finally reached this point. It’s hard to see your child suffer every day—unable to eat or sleep," he said.
Sandro's legal counsel expressed confidence in their case, stating, "The evidence is strong. We have the evidence we need. We will achieve the justice that Sandro deserves."
This development follows the denial of the accusations by Nones and Cruz, who refuted the claims during a Senate hearing on August 13. Cruz stated, "We did not commit any sexual harassment or abuse against Sandro Muhlach. In front of all of you, we strongly reject all the insulting accusations made against us."
As of now, Nones and Cruz have not yet responded to the rape complaint. Reports about the alleged assault, involving two individuals described as "GMA executives," surfaced in late July, following the GMA Gala on July 20.
On August 1, GMA Network confirmed that they had received the formal complaint and announced an investigation while promising to respect Sandro's request for confidentiality. Following this, on August 2, Sandro, along with his father, formally filed a sexual molestation complaint with the NBI.
